I'm coming home.

Yesterday Mud and I went to the Newseum and the WWII memorial. I hadn't seen it finished.




This is the view of the Capitol from the Pennsylvania Ave terrace at the Newseum. The Canadian embassy is right next to it.

That evening we spent time at Chris and Dana's in MD. They have a great house in the country with a well. The kids loved it out there the last time they were there.


This morning we woke to the dulcet tones of Sofia eating breakfast.



She ate her breakfast and Luis' and Angie's!! She's so big now.

Right now we are at Union Station waiting for the MARC to BWI. It's been an adventure for sure. I wish we could take this weather with us!!

Day 2-I was walking in Memphis

Good morning! We woke up early to get a good start on traffic and it's worked. I have been going 70 all morning.

Leaving the hotel I mentioed to the desk clerk that we were going to miss continental brkfast because we were leaving so early so she says " it's already ready, help yourself." Sweet! We grabbed a couple of bagels and juice and coffee and left. Memphis was kind to us. We are grateful for Southern hospitality.

The Great Smoky Mountains are amazing! We haven't seen this much green in along time. Wish we could have stopped to take real pictures.

It's 1230pm central time. We stopped at McDs for a quick fix then it's back on the road. Mud gets to drive, I need to sleep.


We have arrived!! Took a little maneuvering to get here bit we did it. Now for a shower and some much needed sleep. Nite everyone!!

Day 1. Friday morning sunrise

We left the house at exactly 555am. Its almost 7am and so far traffic is good but we're only in San Marcos. Austin and it's lovely traffic is still ahead of us. We haven't eaten yet either. That will be our first stop.






Here's the truck we're driving. It's not too big but still interesting.
We stopped at Whataburger for a BOB and a caffeine injection. We feel much better now that it's daylight and we have food in our stomachs. We're deep in Austin traffic now. As Janet Jackson says "this can't be good".

We have just passed the lovely city of Waxahachie. That Walks-a-hatchie to you and me. Ok so the pic sucks. You try taking a picture from a moving Penske truck!!


We are almost to Mt. Pleasant. It's cloudy with scattered showers....heh while Cecilia is driving. Almost to Texarkana. It's very green here with pretty trees. More to come later.

It's 8:02pm and we made it to Memphis. We have also managed to make it to Neely's





to try some of their famous BBQ. We ordered sweet tea too! Let's hope it's all it's made out to be on TV.


Day one is done. We survived so with tummies full, it's time for bed.

Road Trip!

My sister and I are embarking on a weekend road trip to Washington DC to take some stuff to our brother. Everyone between here and the East coast...PRAY!! I will try to post once a day, maybe more if something really good happens. There will be pictures too so check often this weekend!
